*富士山の山頂で感じたこと
富士は日本一の山♪日本人として生まれたからには一度は富士山に登りたい。20代の頃、たまたま友人に誘われて、7人で一緒に登ることになった。
富士山の遠景の写真は美しくて色々なところで目にするが、登山道の写真はあまり多くない。富士山は森林限界を越えているので、登山をしてみると木々もなく小岩が多い殺風景な山道が続いていた。
登山は仲間の一人が登頂経験があったので非常に助かった。夏でも上の方はかなり寒いとか、高山病の予防には飴を舐めると良い、特にサクマドロップスはゴミが出ないからオススメだ、など細かいアドバイスやペース配分の役割を担ってくれた。私は本格的な登山は初めてだったが、空気が薄いということが想像以上に辛いというのを痛感した。9合目から先は本当に大変で、次の一歩を踏み出すことだけに意識を集中し、気力で何とか山頂に辿り着いた。
さて、山頂には一件の山小屋があった。体力的に限界の状態で中に入ると、暖かい味噌汁やラーメンが売っていて、これでようやく少し元気になれると思った。しかし、カップラーメンが何と一個1000円で売られており、需要と供給の関係性を身をもって理解することが出来た。
富士山は登って本当に良かったと思っているが、登山の道中が本当に大変だったので、一度で十分だというのが私の感想である。
*Thoughts at the Summit of Mount Fuji
Mount Fuji is the highest mountain in Japan. As a Japanese, I always wanted to climb it at least once. In my twenties, I happened to be invited by a friend, and seven of us decided to climb together.
While you often see beautiful distant photos of Mount Fuji, there aren't many pictures of the actual climbing trail. Mount Fuji surpasses the tree line, so when you actually climb it, you encounter a barren path with few trees and mostly small rocks.
It was fortunate to have a friend who had reached the summit before. They provided valuable advice on the cold temperatures even in summer, the benefits of sucking on candies to prevent altitude sickness (especially Sakuma Drops, which don't produce trash), and helped with pacing. Although it was my first serious climb, I keenly felt how difficult it was to breathe in thin air. Beyond the ninth station, it was truly challenging, and I focused solely on taking the next step, relying on my willpower to finally reach the summit.
Now, at the summit, there was a mountain hut. In a physically exhausted state, entering it, I hoped to regain some energy with warm miso soup or ramen. However, I was astounded to find cup ramen being sold for a whopping 1000 yen, which made me understand the dynamics of supply and demand firsthand.
I truly feel that climbing Mount Fuji was worth it, but considering the arduous journey, once is enough for me.
