イギリスの田舎と言えば、緑の丘で羊が放牧されている風景をイメージする人が多いのではないだろうか。正にそのイメージ通りの風景が見える場所がある。それはイギリス中部にある湖水地方だ。私は学部留学中の6月に湖水地方を訪れた。この時は学生で時間もあったので、1週間程かけて湖水地方の街を歩いて回ることにした。ジューンブライドという言葉があるように、イギリスの6月は気候も良く、ハイキングをするにはとても気持ちが良い季節だった。ウィンダミア、グラスミア、アンブルサイド、ニアソーリー、ボウネスを回ったが、それぞれの街と街の間は10km～15kmあり、15kg程のバックパックを背負って歩いていたので少し疲れたが、暖かな日差しの下で美しい風景を見ながらゆっくりと回るのは、とても贅沢な時間だった。仕事をしていると中々難しいが、出来るならばその場所が最も美しい季節に訪れたいと思う。

When people think of the English countryside, many imagine rolling green hills dotted with grazing sheep. There is a place where this idyllic scene comes to life—the Lake District in central England. I visited the Lake District in June during my undergraduate studies. As a student with plenty of time, I decided to spend about a week walking through its charming towns.
June in England, often associated with the term June Bride, offers pleasant weather, making it a perfect season for hiking. I explored Windermere, Grasmere, Ambleside, Near Sawrey, and Bowness. The distance between each town was around 10 to 15 kilometers, and carrying a 15kg backpack made the journey a bit tiring. However, strolling through stunning landscapes under the warm sun was an incredibly luxurious experience.While work schedules can be limiting, I always hope to visit places when they are at their most beautiful.
