*便利だけど少し寂しい最近の旅事情
義父母がイタリアに旅行に行くということで色々と旅の準備を手伝ったが、最近の技術の進歩に改めて驚いた。私が海外出張する時はプリペイドSIMを使うのだが、ITに詳しくない義父母にはそれは難しい。空港でWiFiを借りる手もあるが、調べてみるとスマホがE-simに対応していれば、事前にE-simの設定をしておいて、空港で回線を切り替えるだけというものがあるのがわかった。説明も図解されていてこれなら出来そうである。旅先でスマホが使えれば、今は旅に便利なアプリが溢れている。Google翻訳のカメラ機能でレストランのメニューなどを日本語表記にする方法などもレクチャーをした。Googleマップもあるので、今はスマホと度胸さえあれば、どこの国に旅行しても困ることはないだろう。ただ、バックパッカーでの旅に慣れている私としては、異国で色々と不便を感じて新たな発見をするのも旅の醍醐味の一つだと思うので、技術の進歩は素晴らしいが、一抹の寂しさも感じてしまう。
イタリアと言えば赤ワインのキャンティが有名だ。私もイタリアを旅をした時は毎食ワインを飲んでいた。残念ながらイタリアには行けないので、スーパーで買ったイタリアワインを飲みながら頭の中で空想の旅に出かけようと思う。

Though technology is wonderful, I feel a slight sense of nostalgia. When I think of Italy, I remember Chianti wine. I used to enjoy wine at every meal during my trips there. Though I can't visit Italy now, I plan to drink Italian wine bought from a supermarket and imagine a travel adventure in my mind.
