イギリスMBA留学記：夢を叶えた日

*夢を叶えた日
妻からの勧めで、あいみょんが甲子園ライブで「Tower of the sun」という曲を歌っている映像を見た。音楽で生きていくために、もがき苦しんできた過去を書いた曲で、地元での凱旋ライブということもあり感極まって泣きながら歌っていた。正に夢を叶えた日ということだろう。その想いが伝わってきて見ていて胸が熱くなった。
さて、誰もが大小はあれども夢を叶えた日というのがあるのではないだろうか。私にとっての夢を叶えた日、それは間違いなく英国MBAの卒業式の日だ。小学生の時の英語塾の先生の話をきっかけに、世界を見たい！と思い、そこから憧れを追い続けて、高校時代のアメリカへの語学留学、大学時代の英国への交換留学、そして、最終的に英国の大学院を卒業するまでに至った。
本で出会った「夢は逃げない、逃げるのはいつも自分だ」という言葉を胸に、 平坦な道ではなかったが継続的な努力と運にも恵まれ、夢を叶えることが出来た。2004年7月13日、あれから20年以上経つがあの日のことは今でも忘れない。
*The Day My Dream Came True
At my wife’s suggestion, I watched a video of Aimyon singing “Tower of the Sun” at her Koshien Stadium concert. It was a deeply emotional performance—she sang through tears, overwhelmed by the moment. The song speaks of her struggles to survive through music, and performing it as a homecoming must have felt like the culmination of her journey. I was moved to tears myself, feeling the weight of her dream realized.
Everyone, I believe, has a day when a dream comes true. For me, it was the day I graduated with an MBA from a UK university. Inspired by an English teacher in elementary school, I had longed to see the world. That passion led to a language program in the U.S. in high school, an exchange year in the UK during university, and ultimately to graduate school there.I still remember July 13, 2004—a day etched in my heart forever.
