*ノルウェーはホテルよりもキャンプがオススメ～ガイランゲルフィヨルドでキャンプをした話
ノルウェーを旅した時、ノルウェーは街よりも自然の方が魅力的だと感じた。イギリス学部留学中の夏休み、私は北欧をキャンプで回るアドベンチャーツアーに参加をした。ツアーパンフレットで見たガイランゲルフィヨルドがあまりに美しかったので、元々は中央ヨーロッパを旅するつもりだった予定を変更して北欧を旅することにしたのだ。フィヨルドは氷河による侵食で形成された地形で、社会の時間に名前は習ったが授業の時はどんな所かあまり想像もしていなかった。受験勉強の多くはそんなものだろうと思う。しかし、実際に行ってみると自然の雄大さに感動をした。ガイランゲルフィヨルドは世界遺産にも認定されているが、ノルウェーのフィヨルドの中でも有数の観光地だ。ツアーではバスで山から湾のある谷合に降りていき、街に着くと湾内をクルーズ船で回った。湾内は波がないために水面が鏡のようになっていて、リフレクションする山々を見ながら静かに船で進むのはとても気持ちが良かった。夜も普通は街中のホテルに泊まるのだろうが、私達のツアーはキャンプツアーだ。そのため美しい湾により近いところにあるキャンプサイトに宿泊をした。美しい自然をより近くに感じることが出来るので、旅行料金の節約のためにキャンプツアーにしたが、結果的には大正解だった。ノルウェーを旅するなら、キャンプで回ること強くお勧めする。

When I traveled through Norway, I found its natural landscapes far more captivating than its cities. During my summer vacation from studying in the UK, I joined an adventure tour to camp across Scandinavia. I was initially planning a trip through Central Europe, but I changed my route after seeing the breathtaking photos of Geirangerfjord in the tour brochure. The fjords, formed by glacial erosion, were something I had learned about in school but never truly pictured until I saw them firsthand. I was moved by the vast beauty of nature there. Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of Norway’s most popular attractions. Our tour took us down the mountains into the fjord’s valley, where we cruised through its calm waters. The reflection of the mountains on the water’s surface was surreal. Instead of staying at a hotel, we camped close to the bay, allowing us to experience the natural beauty up close. Camping was budget-friendly and the perfect choice – a highly recommended way to explore Norway.
