*イギリスは琥珀色で常温のビールが美味しい
私はお酒は強い方だと思う。特にビールが好きで今でも毎晩飲んでる。日本でビールと言えば、色は黄金色でキンキンに冷えたイメージだがイギリスではそうではない。色は琥珀色で温度も常温なのだ。でもそれが美味しくて、今でも懐かしく感じる時がある。
日本のビールはラガーという種類であるのに対して、イギリスではビターが一般的だ。アルコール度数も7度とラガーよりも高く、適温も13度と常温に近い。PUBではカウンターでA pint of bitter, please.と言うと0.5Lのグラスにその店でお勧めのビタービールを注いでくれる。今ではイギリスのビールも日本で買うことは出来るのでたまに家で飲むこともあるが、やはりPUBで飲むビールとはどこか違う感じがする。いつかまたイギリスを訪れ、あの琥珀色のビールを飲んでみたい。
*In the UK, Amber-Colored, Room-Temperature Beer Is Delicious
I consider myself to have a pretty strong tolerance for alcohol, and I especially love beer—still enjoying it every night. In Japan, beer is usually golden and ice-cold, but that’s not the case in the UK. There, the beer is amber-colored and served at room temperature. Surprisingly, it's really tasty, and sometimes I find myself missing it. While Japanese beer is mostly lager, in the UK, bitter is the standard. It has a higher alcohol content, around 7%, and is served at a temperature close to 13°C, just below room temperature. In a pub, if you say, "A pint of bitter, please," they’ll serve you a 0.5L glass of the house's recommended bitter. You can now buy British beer in Japan, and I occasionally enjoy it at home, but it somehow doesn’t quite compare to the beer I had in UK pubs. One day, I’d love to visit the UK again and savor that amber beer.
