*セーヌ川から見た光り輝くパリの街並み
パリオリンピックがいよいよ開幕となる。開会式のパレードはセーヌ川で行われ、エッフェル塔やルーブル美術館など有名な観光地が競技会場になるなどパリの美しさを前面に出した大会となっている。
私が初めてパリを訪れたのは今から28年前のイギリス学部留学中の5月だった。ドーバー海峡を隔てただけでロンドンとは天気も雰囲気も全く違い、パリはとても華やか印象があった。3日間だけだったがシャンゼリゼ通りやエッフェル塔、有名な美術館など有名な観光地を見て回った。シャネルの本店では偶然若き日の工藤静香を見て、やはりパリはオシャレな街なんだと勝手に納得をしていた。夜はセーヌ川の観光クルーズに乗船したが、船上から見たパリの街並みはライトアップで光り輝いていて本当に美しかった。パリオリンピックには行けないが、しばらくの間は競技と共に美しい街並みを映像で楽しみたい。

Paris is about to host the Olympic Games, with the opening ceremony parade taking place on the Seine River. The event showcases Parisian landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre as competition venues, highlighting the city's beauty.
I first visited Paris 28 years ago during a study abroad program in May. The city felt dramatically different from London, with its vibrant and glamorous atmosphere. Despite only being there for three days, I explored famous sights such as the Champs-Élysées, the Eiffel Tower, and renowned museums. At Chanel's flagship store, I even spotted a young Shizuka Kudo, which made me feel that Paris was indeed a stylish city. A night cruise on the Seine revealed a city illuminated in stunning lights, truly breathtaking. Although I can't attend the Paris Olympics, I look forward to enjoying the beautiful cityscape through broadcasts of the games.
